Viola Liang is a Chinese AI narrative artist and creative technologist based in London.  She recently completed her MFA in Computational Arts at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Focusing on AI and intimacy, Viola’s work explores collaborative storytelling to co-create folklore and ritual practice through AI and the emerging technologies. Her practice spans installation, fiction, performance, inviting audiences to engage with large language models in participatory and speculative environments. Through voice, language, and embodiment, she reimagines AI as a co-performer and co-author, transforming it from a system of control into an intimate and unpredictable.

Viola took part in NextAI: AI Metamorphosis in October 2025, where she was invited as a speaker and panelist to share her practice working with AI and Uncanny Intimacy with the public. In May, she was a resident artist at Tate in London, presenting her practice of co-creating speculative fiction and worldbuilding with AI and participants through a public workshop and open studio showcase. In April, she was selected for the frame:work New Talent ’25 Graduate. Earlier, in March, she contributed to Tè & Moun, part of the Digital Black Dance Ecologies project, as an assistant artist, supporting performance-making and the development of visual-sound systems.
